I am a professionally trained artist specializing in oil, pastel, charcoal, graphite, and watercolor media. At the University of Hawaii, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Following graduation, I moved to the Philippines where I completed my first oil painting series. Later, I moved to Italy where I exhibited my oil series and was one of the speakers in a group art show.
When I returned to the United States, I attended a workshop by Master Artist, Harriet Kronick, which was a turning point in my career. I put away my oil palette for the spontaneity for pastels. To learn more about pastels, I attended a workshop by Daniel E. Greene. As a pastelist, I did commissioned portraits and focused initially on figurative art. When I moved to Miami Beach, I shifted to architectural landscape because of the influence of the local Preservation movement and prevalence of Art Deco buildings. My love of history and conservation found a new voice and passion. After exhibiting my Art Deco buildings, I began painting lighthouses.
My love of lighthouses has changed the way I live and travel. When I am not traveling to a lighthouse, I am writing, researching or painting lighthouses. I’ve painted lighthouses in the United States, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
